Azerbaijan’s youngest mobile operator Azerfon LLC (Nar Mobile) has got a 3G services license from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, Azerfon’s General Director Gido Helbich told APA-ECONOMICS.

The company is planning to launch 3G services in frequency bandwidth on the spectrum of 2.1 Ghz, he added.

From the first day, Azerfon is expected to make available 3G services not only in Baku and Absheron peninsula but also in the regions of the country.

Since the company has been working on this project for a long time, it has already installed 3G base stations in many regions of Azerbaijan.

Launched business operation in 2007, Azerfon’s network covers 80% of Azerbaijani territory now. The company’s subscriber base is 1.5 million. Azerfon is a non-equity partner of Vodafone.
